Medical Laboratory Technology

Through the quality training you’ll receive in the MLT program, you’ll prepare to perform tests that help physicians diagnose and treat diseases. From preparing samples for analysis, using specialized equipment to locate microorganisms, monitoring tests and performing various procedures, analyzing the chemical content of fluids, matching blood for transfusions, and testing for drug levels in the blood, you’ll be an essential part of the healthcare team.

Medical Laboratory Technicians are ranked in the top twenty-five fastest growing career fields in South Carolina by the US Department of Labor. Your training will lead you to great careers in hospitals, clinics, private labs, and even research departments at pharmaceutical companies. No matter your location, you'll play an important part in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of illness and disease. Graduates will be eligible to take the examination to become certified Medical Laboratory Technicians.

Looking to Transfer?

For students who wish to continue work toward a four-year degree, we have a seamless transfer program with Clemson University enabling Tri-County Technical College students who graduate in the Medical Laboratory program and are academically qualified to transfer into the Accelerated Bachelor of Science program in Microbiology and Biomedicine at Clemson University.
