Success Coaches

Students matter at Tri-County (TCTC)!  Success Coaches assist with orientations and offer individual appointments to help students make a smooth transition to college.

To help bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be, your Success Coach will:

  • Provide connections to campus services and resources
  • Encourage self-responsibility for learning
  • Support your academic development

You can celebrate accomplishments and share obstacles with your Success Coach, who will help you build a foundation for success in college and life.

How is a Success Coach different from an Academic Advisor?

You’re assigned a Success Coach upon acceptance to TCTC.  Once your first semester of classes begins, you’re also assigned an Academic Advisor, who is a faculty member in your major.  The Success Coach and Academic Advisor are important resources for you.

Your Success Coach…

  • Answers your questions about TCTC
  • Helps you create an educational plan based on your career interests
  • Assists with first semester class registration based on your placement levels and goals
  • Helps you navigate events that may affect your academic experience
  • Offers Coach Check-In meetings to discuss your current classes and shares information about campus resources
  • Provides support as needed throughout your entire time at TCTC

Your Academic Advisor…

  • Meets with you during the advising period for the upcoming semester
  • Helps with updates to your educational plan
  • Serves as a mentor as you work toward your goals
  • Provides information on requirements for your major, class selection for the next semester, course substitutions, and degree completion
  • Assists with your next steps, such as transferring or job placement
