Tri-County Technical College Employees:

The Governor released his Executive Order providing additional details for employees and for alternate methods of delivering instruction from March 16, 2020 through March 31, 2020. The Governor’s Order directed “the closure of all public schools in the State of South Carolina for students and non-essential employees.” Additionally, Section 2 of the Governors Executive Order grants the President of Tri-County Technical College the following authority (edited statement as it pertains to technical colleges):

This Order applies to all employees of technical colleges in the State of South Carolina, with the exception of those emergency or other critical personnel designated as essential, or whose presence is otherwise deemed necessary, by the appropriate college official. I further authorize the requisite college officials to make any necessary and appropriate decisions or arrangements to account for local needs and other unique circumstances, to include establishing or maintaining means to deliver virtual instruction and remote learning.

Supervisors and employees who provide direct student service and other critical functions should report to work on Monday, March 16. Further instructions regarding telecommuting arrangements and ongoing essential functions will be distributed to all employees after additional planning. Faculty are not deemed essential while the college is observing Spring Break because no teaching activities are scheduled.

Part-time employees, temporary employees, and work-study students are not to report to work. Employees who feel ill are not to report to work.

On Monday, the team monitoring the Coronavirus will meet to further discuss the College’s business continuity plans.  We will provide you with any additional updates at that time. If you have questions or need additional information, please discuss further with your immediate supervisor. (Supervisors, please direct any questions or concerns that you have to your respective Executive Staff leader.)

In your service,

D. Galen DeHay, Ph.D.
