COVID-19 Update 05/11/20

May 11, 2020: A Message to Employees from President DeHay

Dear Colleagues,

Last week, Governor Henry McMaster lifted his statewide Home or Work Order, which required individuals to limit their movements outside of their residence except to go to work or engage in essential activities. Even though the order has been lifted, the governor continues to stress that we should continue to limit physical interaction and practice social distancing in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Additionally, the governor has authorized college officials to make any necessary and appropriate decisions or arrangements regarding reopening their respective institutions. Accordingly, I have decided that the College’s campuses will remain closed to the public through the first week of June. What does this mean for you?

  • Only essential employees should report to campus between now and June 5.
  • All other employees should continue working remotely.
  • After June 5, the College will begin a phased approach to reopening campuses.
  • Summer courses will remain online through June 19.
  • Previously approved on-campus labs and clinicals may continue to be offered.

The COVID-19 Recovery Task Force will be working with me to put together a reopening plan that outlines how we will create a safe on-campus working and learning environment. Details of the plan will be shared with employees and students in late May.

In the meantime, please continue the great work you have been doing for our students, staff and community. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your supervisor or human resources. Stay safe and be well.

In your service,

D. Galen DeHay, PhD
