Summer Component

During the six-week Summer Component, Upward Bound students participate in a variety of academic and personal growth experiences, including:

  • College preparatory classes
    (Prepare them for the upcoming academic year. Enrichment instruction in math, English, science, reading, and Spanish)
  • College Classes
    (Students who are recent high school graduates take up to 6 hours of college coursework and receive credit that may be transferred to the college or university they plan to attend.)
  • Resident Life
    (Students experience living on campus for six weeks at a nearby residential college or university.)
  • Tours
    (Students visit a number of regional colleges and universities. Past tours have included Clemson University, Lander University, University of South Carolina, University of North Carolina, Queens College, University of Georgia, Morehouse College. Students also tour one or more major cities. Past tours have included Charleston, SC; Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; and Washington, DC.)
