The Use and Misuse of Opioids and Opiates - 1 Hour   ACPE#0062-9999-16-087-L04-T

Upon completion of this program, the technician will be able to:

  • Recall basic pharmacology of opiates and opioids
  • Identify appropriate uses for these medications
  • Explain the abuse potential and diversion related to these medications
  • Describe how pharmacy technicians might assist with preventing diversion and abuse of these agents

Drug Supply Chain Security Act and You - 1 Hour   ACPE#0062-9999-16-088-L03-T   

Upon completion of this program, the technician will be able to:

  • Recognize the components of the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA)
  • Explain how DSCSA will affect day-to-day pharmacy operations and customers
  • Identify the areas of DSCSA processes that can be completed by pharmacy technicians
  • Describe where to find the most up-to-date information and changes on DSCSA

Communicating with Your Pharmacist, Patients, and Peers - 1 Hour   ACPE#0062-9999-16-089-L04-T

Upon completion of this program, the technician will be able to:

  • Recognize basic communication skills necessary to be successful in a pharmacy practice
  • Review communication practices that are acceptable and unacceptable in a healthcare environment
  • Using case scenarios and role play, practice approrpiate methods of communication with pharmacists, patients, and peers

Drug Interactions with CYP450 - 1 Hours   ACPE#0062-9999-16-090-L05-T

Upon completions of this program, the techncian will be able to:

  • Recall what CYP450 is and why it plays such an important role in drug interactions
  • Recognize common drug interactions involving CYP450
  • Identify the patient safety implications of CYP450
