Course Description:
Many companies have the need to move trailers around on their facilities. Employees involved in this type of activity are required to be certified. Corporate and Community Education offers both the certification training for new employees, as well as the recertification training required every 3 years for certified yard operators in order to maintain OSHA standards. The renewal process consists of drivers being re-evaluated by a certified instructor.
In this hands-on training program participants will gain comprehensive entry-level yard operation skills. Topics will include safe and efficient operation of yard tractors and day cabs, as well as, basic skills related to backing, coupling and uncoupling, entering and exiting vehicle, and proper use of mirrors.
The hands-on training will be completed on site utilizing company equipment. Individuals successfully completing this training will receive certification by instructor and certificate of completion.
Course Outline:
- Behind -the-wheel training - Safe operation in and around facility.
- Evaluation of employees by instructor - to include assessment of driver in all phases of operation. If proficient employees will be certified by instructor.
