CONTACT: DR. CHAD GREGORY, 646-1324

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 8/25/2011

PENDLETON --- Dr. Chad Gregory, a history instructor at Tri-County Technical College, will give a 9-11 conspiracy theory lecture September 8, presenting the best and widely-known conspiracy theories concerning the September 11 terrorist attacks, along with criticisms of these theories and conspiratorial thinking in general.

The lecture will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Marshall Parker Auditorium in Oconee Hall on the Pendleton Campus. This is one of several activities the College planned to commemorate the anniversary of September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York and The Pentagon.

The event, sponsored by the College's Enrichment Series, is free and open to the public.

"In recent years, a growing number of Americans have concluded that the horrific attacks on September 11, 2001, were either planned by rogue or official persons and agencies of the United States government or that the government knew of the impending attacks and allowed them to happen," said Dr. Gregory. In addition to examining the most cited reasons given by the conspiracy community, he will present criticisms of this particular conspiracy. "I will fairly present the best materials of the conspiracy theory and then transition to objections and refutations of those theories," added Dr. Gregory.

There will be time for questions and discussion at the end of the session.
