PENDLETON --- Titanic expert Bill Willard will present "Tales from Titanic," a mixed-media program about the sinking of the ocean liner, Wednesday, March, 7, at Tri-County Technical College.
The presentation will be held from 1:20 - 2:20 p.m. in the Marshall Parker Auditorium on the Pendleton Campus. The public is invited to attend. The free event is sponsored by the College's Enrichment Series Committee.
Willard's presentation will include the ROV T-Rex, a remotely operated vehicle that he developed and was used during the 1998 Titanic expedition.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the ocean liner Titanic, which hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic on the evening of April 14, 1912. The ship sunk 2 hours and 40 minutes later on April 15, 1912, about 400 miles off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. The disaster took the lives of 1503 passengers and crew. Only 705 people survived.
Willard has been to the wreck site of the Titanic twice and been featured on Dateline NBC, BBC's Inside Out and several Titanic shows on the Discovery Channel.
